It may be a rather slow week for original content on Amazon Prime Video this week, but we are still getting several new titles including a Hollywood blockbuster, season 2 of an iconic action series, and Christmas films for the whole family.
Spy Cat (2018)
Spy Cat, also known as Marnie’s World, is a 2018 animated spy comedy movie that was loosely inspired by the German fairy tale ‘Town Musicians of Bremen’.

The film tells the story of Marnie, a chubby ginger cat who is treated like a princess and given everything that her feline heart could ask for. However, when Marnie is forced to enter the real world, she quickly realizes that the only thing that she truly needs is a group of friends to support her.
Spy Cat’s English dubbed version also features celebrity influencer Addison Rae as Marnie, the first legitimate acting role for the TikTok superstar before appearing in He’s All That (2021) and Thanksgiving (2023).
Spy Cat arrives on Amazon Prime Video’s Freevee service on December 11.
Asteroid City (2023)
Wes Anderson’s latest movie finally lands on Amazon Prime Video on December 12, telling the story of what happens when ‘world-changing events’ disrupt a junior star-gazing convention in the American desert.
Jason Schwartzman and Scarlett Johansson star in perhaps the best cast list out of any movie released in 2023, with supporting roles for Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Steve Carell, Jeff Goldblum, and Margot Robbie.
Blue’s Big City Adventure (2022)
Based on the popular Nickelodeon Jr series comes this delightful musical comedy movie that blends live-action and animation into fun for the whole family.
In the film, Josh and Blue travel to New York to audition for a big Broadway musical but after a few hours of seeing the sights, find themselves lost in the big city after Josh forgets to bring his notebook. Now, it’s up to their friends to find them in this concrete jungle – can they make the audition in time, or is this big city adventure doomed?

Blue’s Big City Adventure is scheduled to launch via Prime Video on December 12.
A Christmas Star (2021)
Sara Canning, Daniel Lissing, and Joanne Wilson star in this adorable Christmas-themed romantic comedy movie from the Great American Family Network. The film tells the story of a young female astronomer called Maddie, who is desperate to study a meteor shower that she predicts will arrive just before Christmas Day.
The only problem is that in order to see the night sky, she will need to convince the townspeople of a quaint village and a handsome park ranger to turn off all of their Christmas lights for the holiday – which turns out to be much easier said than done.
A Christmas Star will launch via the Prime Video Freevee service on December 14.

Night Court (1984)
The classic American sitcom aired over 190 episodes between 1984 and 1992 on NBC; focusing on the unorthodox Judge Harry Stone, who rules the night shift of a Manhattan Criminal Court.
Night Court was actually revived earlier this year on NBC and has already been renewed for season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on December 23.
Seasons 1-9 of Night Court will premiere through Prime Video’s Freevee service on December 15.
Reacher (2023)
Undoubtedly the biggest release on Amazon Prime Video this week is season 2 of the superb Reacher series, based on the iconic Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child.
Alan Ritchson returns as Reacher, who will be busy reassembling his old team of investigators when one of the original crew is mysteriously thrown from a helicopter at 30,000 feet.
Reacher season 2 will premiere on December 15.
