Russia Breaks Silence On Wagner Group Chief’s Reported Death: ‘He Made Serious Mistakes In His Life,’ Says President

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has finally spoken out on the alleged death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Russian paramilitary group founder who led an armed uprising against Russian military officials back in June, Business Insider reported.

Putin expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. “First of all, I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of all the victims, this is always a tragedy,” Putin stated.

“I’ve known Prigozhin for a long time, since the early ’90s. He was a man of complicated fate and he made serious mistakes in his life,” he added.

This revelation was made during a meeting at the Kremlin that was broadcast on Russian television.

News about Prigozhin’s presumed demise arose after a Wagner-affiliated private jet crashed in Russia’s Tver region outside of Moscow. All 10 passengers onboard were reported to have died, with Prigozhin listed among them.

Citing two anonymous U.S. officials, Reuters reported that Washington believes a surface-to-air missile from within Russia may have downed the plane.
