SNAP benefits: Who will receive payments on July 23?

The distribution of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, continues in the United States.

SNAP is a federal program that, in coordination with state governments, provides benefits to low-income families to buy food. Each month, states deposit financial assistance onto an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card that can be used at certain approved locations.

SNAP benefits: who will receive payments on July 23?

SNAP benefits are put on the EBT cards every month. However, payment dates vary from state to state despite being a federal program.

Some states send money at the beginning of the month, while others send the funds during the first three weeks of the month in batches based on name, Social Security number, case number, or account number, with the 23rd being the last pay day at various entities.

Here are the amounts comprising the last batch of SNAP payments being sent on or before June 23:

Alabama

Payments are sent based on the last two digits of the case number.

  • July 21: 85 – 89
  • July 22: 90 – 94
  • July 23: 95 – 99

North Carolina

Payments are sent based on the last digit of your Social Security Number (SSN).

  • June 21: Issue 0

Delaware

Payments are sent based on the first letter of your last name.

  • June 21: U – VJune 22: WJune 23: X – Y – Z

Georgia

Payments are sent based on the last two digits of your SNAP ID number.

  • June 21: 80 – 89
  • June 23: 90 – 99

Indiana

Payments are sent based on the first letter of your last name.

  • June 21: T – U – V
  • June 23: W – X – Y – Z

Louisiana

Payments are sent based on the last digit of your Social Security Number (SSN).

  • June 21: 8
  • June 23: 9

Maryland

Payments are sent based on whether the first three letters of the last name are between:

  • June 21: STD and TRA
  • June 22: TRB and TRA
  • June 23: WET and ZZZ

Michigan

Payments are sent based on the last two digits of your ID number.

  • June 21: 9

Mississippi

Payments are sent based on the last two digits of the case number.

  • June 21: 95-99

Missouri

Payments are sent based on month of birth and last name.

  • June 21: November and the first letter of the last name is L-Z
  • June 22: December and the first letter of the last name is A-Z

SNAP benefits: What is the maximum monthly payment?

The maximum amounts a household may be eligible for are different for the 48 contiguous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Amounts sent depend on household size, as well as other income factors and other requirements.

Effective through September 30 of this year, these are the maximum amounts awarded in the 48 contiguous United States, including the District of Columbia:

  • 1 member: $281
  • 2 members: $516
  • 3 members: $740
  • 4 members: $939
  • 5 members: $1,116
  • 6 members: $1,339
  • 7 members: $1,480
  • 8 members: $1,691
  • Additional member: +$211

For recipients living in Alaska, the maximum is $1,172 for urban families of 4, $1,494 for rural 1 residents, and $1,819 for rural 2 residents. In Hawaii, the maximum is $1,794 for a family of 4.
