Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that he will not be making another Kill Bill movie. Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 tell the story of Beatrix “the Bride” Kiddo, a former assassin who goes on a violent revenge spree against her former boss Bill and his colleagues after they try to kill her at her own wedding. Even though it has been nearly two decades since the second movie was released, there remains a great deal of interest in a potential Kill Bill: Volume 3.

While speaking with De Morgen, Tarantino shut down the possibility of Kill Bill: Volume 3 happening, regardless of the widespread appeal that it would hold. This is consistent with The Movie Critic being Tarantino’s tenth and final movie, while putting a definitive end to the rumors and hopes of the Kill Bill series becoming a trilogy. Read Tarantino’s response below:
“I don’t see that. My last film is about a film critic, a male critic. And he plays in the 70s.”

Tarantino’s career has been defined by his ability to make innovative and shocking movies that can still have widespread appeal. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, and the Kill Bill films are celebrated for being bold and surprising while maintaining the dark humor, deliberate pacing, and cartoonish violence that are part of Tarantino’s signature style. The director’s final movie should feel distinct, even though it will inevitably have some stylistic overlap with his previous projects. Kill Bill: Volume 3 would run the risk of feeling like more of the same of what Tarantino has already done.
He already devoted two films to the Kill Bill story, more than he has for any other project. Even though they are two movies, they tell one complete story, with Tarantino even releasing a single film version titled Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. Discussions about Kill Bill: Volume 3 revolved around a now-adult Nikki, the daughter of the deceased Vernita Green, seeking revenge after Beatrix killed Vernita and left a young Nikki with her mother’s body. Beatrix’s story of revenge is complete, and there is no need to involve her or her family in another revenge tale.
Based on what is known about Tarantino’s The Movie Critic, it sounds different from anything he has made before, a compelling choice to end a compelling career. It sounds less violent and features a more reflective protagonist compared to his other movies. This is a different way of being bold and surprising, along with helping Tarantino reflect on his time in the film industry. It is more fitting than Tarantino suddenly leaning into the decision to revive a popular franchise, even when it means putting an end to Kill Bill.
