Marvel Studios teased the impending release of the first trailer for The Marvels with a brief (but mysterious) recording from space.
Shared by Marvel Entertainment on Twitter, the brief teaser consists of only audio and lasts for 17 seconds. While the speakers in the teaser are unidentified, the first voice says, “Hello?” while the second (which could be Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury) asks, “Where’s Captain Rambeau?” The first trailer for The Marvels is scheduled to drop on April 10.

Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels serves as the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau/Photon and Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Vellani made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Kamala Khan in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, which has been renewed for a second season. The Season 1 finale of Ms. Marvel promised that Kamala Khan would return as the hero in the Captain Marvel sequel and featured a cameo from Larson in a post-credit scene.

The Marvels Will Explore a New Side of Carol Danvers
Filming on The Marvels began in August 2021. In a previous interview, DaCosta revealed some details about the plot of the upcoming sequel, including that the story will explore the more human side of Carol Danvers. The director added that she wanted to approach “these characters as human beings and not necessarily as superheroes.” Similarly, DaCosta explained how she intended to give both Monica and Kamala enough space to breathe in a film focused on Captain Marvel.
“It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of these really big, exciting heroes space in a two-hour film?” the director said. “Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision.” She continued, “How do we honor the part of the story they’re at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?”
