Bye For Now, Bold Colors
The weather is getting warmer by the day and I’m ready to show a little skin to celebrate. I’m notorious for wearing bright, bold colors when summer comes around. But, I find myself reaching for basics and neutrals lately. Not that I don’t still love bolder colors. They’re just not always the most versatile or flattering on me.
Warm Weather Pieces Wanted
I slowly started swapping out my winter clothing for my spring and summer wardrobes; I noticed my inventory of warm weather clothes lacked basic colors in quite a few warm weather friendly styles. Since I’m tapering my shopping, I started searching for places to slowly and mindfully fill in a few spring and summer gaps. There’s plenty of places that sell basics ranging in price points. I’m trying to be more mindful about shopping brands who are conscious when it comes to making their clothes and transparent when it comes to paying their workers.
Everlane For Basics
Everlane is THE brand for minimal, high quality basic pieces. I know they had a history of mass production and limited transparency. But, they’ve made strides to be more transparent and intentional about their inventory, resources, and workers . I can’t conclusively classify them as a slow fashion brand, but what I know—I like. I’m shopping them as mindfully as I possibly can and purchasing pieces to solely fill in gaps. In today’s post, I’ve rounded up five Everlane basics I recently purchased that are perfect for spring and summer. Not a bit of this is sponsored. Just sharing pieces that I love.
A-Line Denim Shorts
A-Line cut denim shorts were THE style when I was younger; I’m happy to see they’re making a comeback. I love the length of these and can attest to their comfort. I’ve been picking these up without much thought, too. They’re just an easy, effortless piece to style.
Slip Dress
I love that this dress is both flirty and edgy. The material is soft and breathable; I ordered mine in my normal size, but it’s a little too loose. I’m in the process of getting it tailored; I’m wanting it to be a little more form fitting.
Cami Bodysuit
I wore this playful number to the Justin Bieber concert I couldn’t shut up about and it was perfect. I felt chic the moment I paired it with my Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans (read my review of them here) and Rebecca Allen Twist Slide Sandal. The material is thick, but not restrictive. I went with the full coverage Bikini bottom because I try to avoid thongs at all cost.
Organic Cotton Crew and Box-Cut T-Shirts
These plain tees have a boyish cut with a feminine fit. I ordered the organic cotton box-cut in Black and it hits right at my jeans’ waist line. I ordered the organic cotton crew in white and I opt to tuck it into my bottoms. I would highly suggest getting it in the next size up. It’s a little more form fitting than I was expecting. Both styles are comfy and light.
90’s Cheeky Jeans
I included these in my Parisian 10 X 10 Styling Capsule Wardrobe. They’re unique in cut, but still manage to be flattering. I love that they hover just above my ankles. Perfect for summer shoes and sandals, but can be easily transitioned to cooler months with a high bootie or equestrian boot.
