U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a waiver for COVID-19 vaccination documentation for applicants seeking lawful permanent resident status. The decision follows President Donald Trump’s reversal of a requirement set by the previous administration. While the COVID-19 vaccination requirement has been lifted, applicants must still provide proof of vaccinations for other diseases.
Effective January 22, 2025, USCIS has no longer required COVID-19 vaccination documentation for adjustment of status applications. The agency will not issue Requests for Evidence or deny applications based on vaccination status.

USCIS stated, “Effective Jan. 22, 2025, USCIS is waiving any and all requirements that applicants for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident present documentation on their Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that they received the COVID-19 vaccination.”

USCIS added, “USCIS will not issue any Request for Evidence or Notice of Intent to Deny related to proving a COVID-19 vaccination. USCIS will not deny any adjustment of status application based on the applicant’s failure to present documentation that they received the COVID-19 vaccination.”
Trump outlined his various immigration policies in his inaugural address, emphasizing border security and mass deportations. His administration plans to deploy military personnel to the southern border and designate international cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
The Trump administration’s policies aim to enhance border security and tackle illegal immigration, a central issue during his administration. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been instructed to increase daily detentions as part of these efforts.

Trump said, “First, I will declare a national emergency at our southern border. All illegal entry will immediately be halted. And we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”
Trump added, “We will reinstate my Remain in Mexico policy. I will end the practice of catch-and-release. And I will send troops to the southern border to repel the disastrous invasion of our country. Under the orders I signed today, we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.”
Trump stated, “And by invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, I will direct our government to use the full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement to eliminate the presence of all foreign gangs and criminal networks bringing devastating crime to U.S. soil, including our cities and inner cities.”

Trump said, “As commander in chief, I have no higher responsibility than to defend our country from threats and invasions. And that is exactly what I am going to do. We will do it at a level that nobody has ever seen before.”
Rep. Thomas Massie welcomed the USCIS announcement and has advocated for ending the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for immigrants. Massie said, “I have a bill to end the COVID jab mandate for legal immigrants, but Trump just suspended the mandate. Hallelujah!”

The administration eliminated the CBP One app, which allowed asylum seekers to schedule appointments, resulting in the cancellation of existing appointments. Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship faces legal challenges, with the administration asserting a reinterpretation of the 14th Amendment.
The White House said, “America’s sovereignty is under attack. Our southern border is overrun by cartels, criminal gangs, known terrorists, human traffickers, smugglers, unvetted military-age males from foreign adversaries, and illicit narcotics that harm Americans, including America.”
