Your ideal career according to your zodiac sign

Your ideal career according to your zodiac sign

Fall is often the best time of year to find a new career—there’s optimism in the air thanks to the change of season. So what opportunity is best for you, given your zodiac sign? Astrology may not be based in science, but here are some suggestions.

ries: March 21 to April 19

According to astrologer Susan Miller, those born under the Aries sign are natural-born leaders. They’re decisive and competitive, making them ideally suited for a variety of roles in just about any field, including starting their own company or becoming a star athlete. Aries are also very creative, so naturally gravitate toward positions that allow them to express forward-thinking concepts.

Taurus: April 20 to May 20

Those born under this sign are among the most dependable and practical of the zodiac, so they naturally gravitate toward careers that allow them to get stuff done and where they can break large tasks into small ones. These are folks who, according to the AstroTwins at Astrostyle, are patient, supportive, and dedicated. They like to work in safe, organized environments and loathe chaos.

Ideal careers: finance and banking, healthcare administration, project management, architecture, science, chef

Gemini: May 21 to June 20

“You are the zodiac’s most skilled communicator. You read a lot, and you write beautifully,” writes astrologer Susan Miller of Geminis. Those born under the twins sign are also highly intelligent, versatile, and adaptable and look to analyze just about everything. They’re also persuasive and love the art of a good negotiation.

Ideal careers: sales and marketing, journalism, communication, travel, software development

Cancer: June 21 to July 22

Nurturing and incredibly sharp of mind, Cancerians have a sixth sense for the art of negotiation and for bringing empathy and heart to just about any role they take on. The AstroTwins say those born under this sign “plant deep roots” and are often able to “go with their gut” better than most. This sets them up well for careers that see them take centre stage.

Ideal careers: finance and business, investing, social work, medicine, home-care work, acting, architecture, home decor

Leo: July 23 to August 22

With a flair for the bright and over-the-top, Leos gravitate toward careers that put them front and centre. “They are naturally born leaders, […] they are fun-loving, ambitious, determined, outgoing but extremely unpredictable,” writes astrology team Ganesha Speaks. “They are dramatic, spontaneously creative, self-confident, extroverted, and dominant.”

Ideal careers: acting, the arts, costume and clothing design, marketing, luxury goods industry roles, education, journalism, law, management

Virgo: August 23 to September 22

“You are best known for your remarkable ability to create clear, instantly understandable communication,” notes astrologer Susan Miller of Virgos. This is a sign full of folks who are organized, reliable, practical, and full of common sense. Virgos also tend to be cool as a cucumber when drama ensues, making them great in roles that are high-pressure.

Ideal careers: front-line worker, proofreader, editor, television production, publicist, medical and healthcare professions, shopkeeper, service industry

Libra: September 23 to October 22

Astrologer Susan Miller calls those born under this sign the “zodiac’s sunshine in a bottle,” because they are “refined, polished, poetic, and soft,” while lacking hard edges. They are widely respected in any role and are known to be arbiters of good taste and brokers of peace in times of conflict.

Ideal careers: law, labour negotiator, diplomat, museum curator, editor, media critic, wedding planner, travel agent

Scorpio: October 23 to November 21

With strong listening skills and a focus on their goals, Scorpios are constantly seeking opportunities to transform and reinvent themselves. Astrology team Ganesha Speaks notes those born under this sign are competitive and look to dig deep and find answers to important questions, not just for themselves, but for the businesses they work for. Though some may fear folks born under the scorpion sign, deep down they are compassionate and loyal.

Ideal careers: crisis management, management, logistics, project management, CFO, finance and business

Sagittarius: November 22 to December 21

Members of this sign are highly intellectual and love to learn about the world around them. They are great storytellers and love to take part in a philosophical debate or tackle deep questions about life, notes astrologer Susan Miller. Sagittarians are also known for their perpetual optimism, love of the outdoors, and easygoing free spirit.

Ideal careers: travel, education, program leader, youth worker, teacher, sales, marine biologist, zoologist, parks administrator

Capricorn: December 22 to January 19

“Ruled by the driven and persistent Mountain Goat, Capricorn energy is willful and determined, focused on the loftiest goals. They walk narrow paths and scale high mountains to achieve tremendous success.

Ideal careers: law, accounting, human resources, medicine, healthcare, government work, manufacturing

Aquarius: January 20 to February 18

Aquarians are often at the cutting edge of technology and social innovation given their penchant for embracing change and testing out new theories, notes astrologer Susan Miller. They also thrive on helping people and have strong feelings about humanitarian issues.

Ideal careers: self-employed business owner, freelance writer, graphic design, photography, app or gadget design, veterinarian, mental health and addiction services, charity work

Compassion should be the middle name of every Piscean; they have a strong emotional intelligence that sets them apart from many other zodiac signs and most colleagues. Though reserved and somewhat quiet, they are capable of doing things that blow others away, says astrologer Susan Miller, and are incredibly intuitive. They are exceptional in roles that are people-oriented.
