BEAUTY LOOKS

All the hair and makeup moments that made us do a double-take

Elizabeth Olsen’s Monochromatic Makeup

The Emmy nominee complemented her The Row dress with retro waves courtesy of hairstylist Adir Abergel and earth-tone makeup by Patti Dubroff. “BTS moments with Lovely Lizzie,” the makeup pro captioned a photo of her Chanel set up. Of the final look, she remarked, “The joy emanating from this beauty is absolutely contagious.”

Yara Shahidi’s Green Eyeshadow

Leave it to the presenter and fashion plate to not only rock a green tea-length Dior gown, but to match her eye shadow to the look. Makeup artist Emily Cheng used Dior makeup to create the gorgeous wash of color on her upper lids.

Mindy Kaling’s Waves

Hairstylist Marc Mena gave the presenter (and one of PEOPLE’s Best Dressed stars) a hairstyle worthy of an award.

Mandy Moore’s Red Lip and Ponytail

The This Is Us actress said her “MVP accessory” was her breast pump before wow-ing on the carpet in a bright red lip and “Audrey Hepburn-inspired” hairstyle. Hairstylist Ashley Streicher had a trio of Garnier sprays on deck to perfect the look:  Texture Tease Dry Touch Finishing Spray,  Style Flexible Control Hairspray and Style Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist. Meanwhile a few passes of the T3 Lucea Flat Iron gave her faux bangs a believable bounce.

Taraji P. Henson’s Top Knot

“Stepped out tonight,” the actress and presenter — who teased the possibility of releasing an album — captioned one of many gorgeous shots she shared on Instagram before heading to the big event. And that she did in a glimmering Elie Saab gown which she topped off with a gorgeous knot coiffed by hairstylist Tym Wallace using the star’s hair care line.

Angela Bassett’s Low Ponytail

“Allure,” was the word hairstylist Randy Stodghill said was his inspiration for the presenter’s breathtaking look. The pro used PHYTOVOLUME Volumizing Blow Dry Spray and Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Hair Dryer to give her curls volume and PHYTOSPECIFIC Curl Legend Spray for definition.

Catherine Zeta-Jones’s Old Hollywood Glamour

With lifelong beauty inspirations like Eva Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor, glamour is second-nature to Catherine Zeta-Jones. Attending both to present and support husband and nominee Michael Douglas, the actress made a grand entrance in a ruched maroon strapless gown, which she matched from head – with her coordinating lip color – to toe. Mega-watt lashes (using her very own mascara) and relaxed waves completed her icon IRL look.

Issa Rae’s High-Low Beauty Moment

Issa Rae’s dress “felt like a nod to the ’70s,” says makeup artist Joanna Simkin. So, the pro created a “disco glam” look to match using a $3 eyeshadow from e.l.f. Cosmetics. And while her lip gloss was also a steal at $6, accessorizing her award-winning smile was the blingiest of grills.
